About us

Beyond the label. Behind the brilliance.

Dyscourse exists to reframe the way society includes, supports, and celebrates neurodivergent people.

Lived experience and expertise upholds our consultancy, training, mentoring and coaching offerings, and supports conversations that drive change. Our work is rooted in compassion, honesty, and the belief that difference isn’t something to fix – it’s something to understand, empower, and embrace.

’20% of the population are estimated to be neurodivergent and given there has been a huge increase in self-diagnosis recently I imagine this statistic will only increase in future years’

Why we exist

Despite increasing awareness, neurodivergent individuals still face widespread stigma, misunderstanding, and exclusion—from classrooms to clinics, workplaces to community spaces.

Dyscourse was created to challenge these current societal norms.
We believe the most powerful tool for change is conversation—real, respectful, and informed dialogue that breaks down misconceptions and nurtures true inclusion.

  • Neurodivergence reflects human diversity, not a deficit.
  • Lived experience matters—we centre neurodivergent voices in everything we do.
  • Change happens in all spaces, from boardrooms to playgrounds.
  • Stigma ends when we see the ‘real person’ and hear their story
  • Everyone has a role in shaping inclusive environments.

What we believe

What we do

We work across a range of environments to create inclusive cultures that honour neurodivergent minds.

Our services include:

  • Training & Workshops for teams, educators, clinicians, and communities
  • Coaching & Mentoring for neurodivergent individuals, parents, leaders, and allies
  • Consultancy for inclusive strategy and culture change
  • Speaking & Events to spark conversations that matter
  • Provide resources to share knowledge and support change

We meet people where they are, and help them raise their awareness, challenge any misconceptions and resource them to lead with positive action, empathy and confidence.

Dyscourse is led by neurodivergent people, supported by a network of allies and experts from education, health, sport, and beyond. Our approach is shaped by lived experience, research, and a passion to dismantling the systems and stereotypes that label people and hold them back.

Who we are

Our vision

We imagine a world where neurodivergent people are recognised for their strengths, supported in their challenges, and celebrated for their ‘real’ selves—in every room, on every team, in every story.

So let the ‘unmasking’ begin!

Meryem Hassan - Founder of Dyscourse

I’m Meryem, born, raised and educated in London. I’ve always felt passionate about challenging inequality and addressing misinformation. I have taken decisions in my life to empower myself through knowledge, education and practical experience, and have chosen to assist and support others to find their own sense of self and authenticity.

Whilst studying at university in my early thirties I was diagnosed with Dyslexia (an ADHD diagnosis wasn’t also offered at that time). Sadly like many neurodivergent individuals, I had gone through my formative educational years believing those who negatively labelled, criticised and often disciplined me for being Dyslexic. Their influence had a profound impact on my self esteem and confidence, leaving me with a hollow sense of self.

Learning my diagnosis at university gave me huge relief. It also however, brought confusion, anger and a sense of feeling lost, alongside a burdensome feeling of being failed by those who knew better.

Like many other neurodivergent individuals I had learned to ‘exist’ and ‘survive’ in a neurotypical world through ‘masking and conforming’ to the prescriptive neuronormative rules and ways of being. Such an existence stripped me of the opportunity to build my own identity and ego strength.

I’ve spent many years since my diagnosis rebuilding my identity and confidence, as I learn how to fully embrace who I am today. During that process I have met many incredible neurodivergent individuals, who like me, have a similar story.

Those neurodivergent individuals, their parallel stories and the continued existence of inequality of misinformation, stigma, shame and repeated trauma-based experiences of neurodivergent individuals is what inspired me to create ‘Dyscourse’. It is a platform to challenge the negative experiences that neurodivergent individuals still face today, and a platform to reframe deficit-based thinking and behaviour into strength-based action and living!
